TNT lowers outlook for Express unit

TNT NV, Europe's second-biggest express-delivery company has lowered its profit forecast for Dutch and international parcel-delivery operations, citing “severe global volatility in financial markets”.

In a statement today, October 16, TNT said it expects margins in International Express (air) product to decrease around 10 percent. “The Economy Express volumes (road) have continued to grow albeit well below levels of 2007,” the company said.

It added that in the Express Emerging platforms the growth and margins continued to develop “in line” with its outlook.

TNT will present the updated outlook for 2008 in its third quarter publication on October 27.
