The supply chain management firm has invested £3 million in a new 25-acre chemical logistics centre on the Wilton International complex at Teesside.
The move consolidates all of TDG’s north-east of England operations onto a single site providing 60,000 square foot of high bay warehousing, handling capability for bulk powders and liquids as well as integration with TDG’s ADR network for packed chemical distribution.
From the facility, TDG operates engineering workshops to maintain vehicles and trailers from its own fleet as well as those from other companies.
TDG also has an 11-acre container park on the same site, which can handle 2,000 containers at a time, with lifting equipment for up to 38 tonnes and 20, 30 and 40 foot boxes.
The new site is located less than a mile from the planned £300 million investment in a deep sea container port at Teesport.
“Our north-east customers needed logistics solutions to let them take full advantage of the new port capacity and routes,” said UK Operations Director, Colin Rutherford. “Our investment in warehousing, distribution and a complete range of added value services…will mean we’re fully geared to meet our customers’ strategic needs.”
