Skills for Logistics, the Sector Skills Council for the freight logistics industries, has named Dr Mick Jackson as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Jackson (pictured) was named as interim CEO in May this year following the departure of Ian Hetherington, who took early retirement to pursue other interests.

Andrew Callaghan, Chairman of the Sector Skills Council (SSC) for the freight logistics industries commented: “We are delighted that Mick has accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer. His expertise in the logistics sector, combined with his work with employers and understanding of their skills needs makes him the ideal person to take the SSC forward.”

Jackson joined Skills for Logistics in June 2004 as Director of Skills Development. He began his career in NFC/Exel Logistics, holding a number of roles over a 14 year period, before working within the removals industry at Allied Pickfords.
