Serco Group plc has won a new 12-year contract to run education and children’s services in Walsall.
The new deal is an extension of contracts that have been in place since 2001.
Under the contract, Serco will work with the town council to achieve the best possible educational outcomes for children and young people.
It will also provide support to the most vulnerable children and their families.
The support services group will provide education support services to the Council, Walsall’s 119 schools and other stakeholders.
Serco will also introduce a number of initiatives to support Walsall’s economic and social regeneration.
This will include supporting a Business Incubation centre and a young persons’ apprenticeship scheme.
Chief Executive Christopher Hyman said the new contract reflects the substantial improvement in performance the Council and Serco have achieved.
