Heineken has signed a new contract with KN Drinks Logistics, Kuehne + Nagel's wholly-owned drinks distribution subsidiary, to carry out imports from Europe and primary distribution in the UK.
Under the terms of the new contract KN Drinks Logistics will transport Heineken products from the breweries in the Netherlands to the UK via road and short-sea shipping.
Products will be stored in the KN Drinks Logistics hub at Hams Hall in the English Midlands with primary and off-trade deliveries carried out across the UK via the company's shared-user distribution network.
Brand positioning
Mark Rutten, Heineken's Finance & Operations Director said that KN Drinks Logistics would offer the company capacity and flexibility to cope with the strong growth of its brands as well as positioning within the Kuehne + Nagel Group.
Dutch brewer Heineken is a leading international brewer and one of the fastest growing brands in the UK with a portfolio which includes names such as Heineken, Amstel and Moretti.
K+N is a global forwarder and logistics service provider based in Switzerland. The K+N UK and Ireland organisation operates around 80 locations with over 10,000 employees.
The contract also incorporates a reverse logistics solution, whereby KN Drinks Logistics will manage the return of all empty kegs back to the point of origin in the Netherlands.
