Healthcare Logistics, a UK logistics operator, has won a contract to distribute GlaxoSmithKline travel health vaccines to GP surgeries, hospitals and pharmacists throughout England and Wales.
The vaccines will now be packed in cardboard boxes, which are both made of recycled material and easy to recycle, as opposed to Glaxo’s previous distributing methods whereby they used polystyrene cool boxes, which maintained the correct temperature, but were less beneficial for the environment.
Improved service
Simon French, Director of Business Development at Healthcare Logistics, says: "We are delighted to be working with GlaxoSmithKline Travel Health to further improve the service it provides to its vaccine customers in the UK. We have in place with GSK a rigorous service level agreement for delivery of vaccines on a next day basis to GPs, retail pharmacists, hospitals and nursing homes, backed by the security of our chill-chain distribution network."
