Amethyst Group, the warehouse and distribution provider, has agreed a five year lease package with Narrow Aisle’s FLEXI trucks for its Wellesbourne site.

Amethyst services the toy sector at the site in Warwickshire, and its clients include Bandai, Leapfrog and Vivid Ravensburger. The company recently added a further 60,000 square feet of warehousing space at the Wellesbourne facility.

FLEXI trucks

The fleet of seven Narrow Aisle FLEXI articulated forklift trucks represent the optimum handling solution for low level order picking, according to Amethyst. The trucks are designed to work in narrower aisles alongside order picking staff without creating a health and safety issue.

Paul Stokes, warehouse and distribution manager at Amethyst’s Wellesbourne site, said, “They are highly manouevrable, fast and safe and have proved extremely low maintenance.”

He added, “The operators really enjoy working with them and I think this is reflected in the high productivity levels we are achieving with them.”

Amethyst operates from six distribution centres in the UK, with over 1.2 million square feet of shared-user warehousing and employees about 500 people on a full time basis.

At peak periods, over 100 trailers a day arrive at the Wellesbourne site. Orders are dispatched to retailers such as Argos, Woolworths, Toys R Us and Homebase.
