Aggregate Industries’ Building Materials division (AIBM) has announced a £50 million partnership with TDG.

The eight-year contract will cover all of AIBM’s UK road transport operations.

AIBM’s 42 sites across the UK currently despatch over five million tonnes of product per annum and cover 100,000 miles per day.

Under the deal, AIBM’s existing hauliers will be contracted and managed by TDG via a central platform.

The TDG-AIBM platform will use TDG’s integrated transport management systems and will procure haulage, plan optimal routes which minimise empty running, and provide real-time web reporting for planners, hauliers and customers.

David Garman, chief executive of TDG, said: “Our systems and people will provide AIBM with a mechanism to improve service, enhance market position and reduce environmental impact.”

AIBM said TDG will save the firm over three million road miles per year and cut its annual CO2 emissions by 12 percent.
